KH Connections: Chapter 1

~Chapter 1: Starting Anew~

~Destiny Islands~
It's summer vacation for everyone on the islands. Sand, Sun, and Summer homework... It's a nice sunny day as Riku sits on the paopu tree wondering how Sora is doing. He decided to stay behind this time just in case anything happened, he feels uneasy because the patrol is taking longer than usual. He sits up looking toward the blue horizon, starting to regret not going... A cool breeze passes by and his white hair starts to get in his face, but he's too lost in his thought to care.
"Something's not right..." He says to himself. He gets off the tree and starts walking toward the bridge. Still wondering the location of his best friend, he sees a boy that looks a lot like Goofy running in his direction. The boy stops right in front of him but loses his balance and falls.
"Are you Riku?" Max asks him getting up and dusting himself off.
"Yeah, who are you?" He responds calmly.
"I am Max, Goofy's son. King Mickey sent me here.  Look, I need your help." Max starts to explain the current situation to Riku in full detail.  The gummi ship,  the King's illness, everything. By time he's done, Riku's face is sullen with guilt.
"I knew I should've went with him... I'll search with you Max, let's go." Riku starts to walk off.
"Wait! There's more." He says stopping Riku in mid-step.
"What else is there?" Riku says confused. Max pulls out a bottle containing a letter from the king. Riku pulls out the letter and begins to read.

~Riku,
                   There's trouble brewing. I need you and Max to find someone before you go searching for Sora. This person is a Keyblade wielder too and will help you find them. The pendant will help you. After you find them, go to Radiant Garden. Find Leon and tell him what's been going on. I'm sorry I can't come with you on this journey, but I have to stay here. Watch Max for me, he's still learning. I hope you find Sora soon. Good Luck!

After reading the letter Riku pulls a pendant from the bottle that resembles half of a heart. He thinks to himself, ~Of course it's a heart, well half of one at least. Why am I not surprised...? But where do we start looking, and how will this thing help us?~ So many questions filled Riku's mind, but suddenly he heard a voice.

*You start by searching, the one you seek however is not here. I shall help you, however you must discover the one who shares the other half on your own.*
"How?" Riku asked the voice, he figured it was coming from the pendant.
*Keyblade wielders share a connection in which only they have, it takes years to master the skill to feel this connection but I shall help you. All you have to do is listen.*
"I... I don't understand, I just want to find Sora..." Riku said, Max stood there confused wondering who Riku was talking to. He couldn't hear the voice that Riku heard.
*You will fine him in due time, but first you must listen*
"To what?!"
*Your heart...* Suddenly the pendant started to glow and shot a light into the sky, *I shall show you the way but in the end you must listen...*
"To my heart..." Riku finished, he wasn't sure how this was going to turn out but he knew he had to find Sora. He left Kairi a note, so she wouldn't worry, and left on a gummi ship with Max. It was his first time on the ship but he didn't really pay attention, he was lost in thought once more. He stared out of the window into space, not even moving an inch as million of start pass his gaze. His mind was brimming to the top with questions. And the most important one on his list...
"Where are you Sora...?"
